The Honor Dinner and Fundraising for POC in Burma, Los Angeles
LA Organizers for Burma, a community based pro-democracy group in Los Angeles, has launched an excellent dinner for its supporters on March 26, 2011 in Los Angeles. The event has raised incredible amount of funds for Prisoners of Conscience (POC) in Burma. LA Organizers for Burma, consists of all walks of life, becomes to reach its aim – to support 200 POC every month. Because of decent minded Los Angeles people and their support, it is become to reality, one of the organizers said. Currently LA Organizers has collected $7000 so far and many people promised to contribute. The total pledged amount is reached $9000 to this point. It is required $15,000 in order to support 200 POC each month for a year, and LA Organizers has been requesting Burmese community in Los Angeles and other cities in the United States to continue support for Political Prisoners in Burma. “We would like to let people in Burma know that we won’t forget Political Prisoners in Burma, because they are detained by noble causes. We would like to show our solidarity and support even we are in abroad”, one organizer said.
